Adoption Agreement/Health Guarantee

Thank you for choosing to adopt one of our puppies. We want to make this as stress-free and enjoyable as possible for you. This contract is written for the protection of both the breeder and the buyer. However it is primarily written to protect the health and general well-being of the puppy. It will be up to us the breeder to decide when the puppy will be ready to go to its new home, usually at the age of 8 weeks, depending on the breed, weight of the puppy and how easily it is weaned from the mother. We will not under any circumstances let the puppy leave before it is ready.

As a responsible breeder who values the health of each puppy, we'd like to believe that nothing can or will ever go wrong with any of our puppies. However, to be realistic, we know things like this are not in our control. It is very important to your new baby's health that you continue to provide all necessary vaccinations, a healthy diet, regular veterinarian care, adequate living conditions, and lots of tender, loving care. Please start a folder of puppies medical records and be sure you keep a copy of the first checkup and subsequent vet checks. Failure to provide your puppy with timely inoculations or regular veterinarian care will void this guarantee. The puppy will be up to date on shots and deworming at time of pickup of the puppy. It is very important that you continue the vaccinations until she/he has completed the entire vaccination schedule, around 16 to 20 weeks old. He/she will be vet checked and deemed in good health at time of adoption. Please take the health record that we send with the puppy to your veterinarian so they can see what vaccinations have already been given and will not redo them unnecessarily. A diagnosis of cherry eye, coccidia, giardia, parasites, kennel cough or any other type of bacterial/ viral infection does not render your puppy unhealthy. These items/germs can be found on the ground, in water and public places. Parvo is also not covered by this contract/guarantee as the puppy has only been started on its vaccinations prior to going to the new home and family. Your puppy's immune system is not fully developed until he and or she has completed its series of puppy shots. We strongly urge you to take the following precautions.  When visiting the vet, never put your puppy on the floor or the ground outside of the clinic. Instead, carry your puppy or use a pet carrier. Ask the vet staff to disinfect the exam table before you set your puppy down. This may sound overly cautious, but there are a lot of sick animals that go to the veterinarian everyday. Dog parks, pet shops, puppy preschool and areas where other dogs of unknown health may have visited should be off limits until your pup has completed the deworming and vaccinations needed to ensure that your puppy continues to enjoy good health. Routine veterinarian costs are not covered by this guarantee. Pet ownership involves veterinarian care and other puppy expenses. Spaying or neutering costs are not covered, including undescended testes or hernias.

The buyer, at their own expense, should have the puppy examined by a licensed vet within 7 days of receiving the puppy for the health guarantee to be honored. Any illness found at that time, found to have originated before pickup will be covered at the expense of the breeder. This guarantee does not cover any health issues caused by or injury from the buyer. The guarantee does not include minor illnesses and health issues such as colds, allergies, or stomach issues. However, the breeder will disclose any known illnesses or health issues prior to the sale. We cannot assume responsibility for the puppy after the puppy has been picked up. It is a responsibility of the buyer to care for the puppy properly and to keep it from harm. Please remember that your puppy must be treated with great care and protected from danger. The breeder assumes no responsibility for any medical expenses incurred after the sale. The breeder assumes no responsibility for training difficulties or behavior problems. We will give you the weight of the puppies parents and an estimation as to the full-grown weight but there are too many variables besides genetics to guarantee an exact size. We do not guarantee fertility or ability to place in shows. The puppy is strictly sold as a top quality pet. The breeder is not responsible for puppies which develop hypoglycemia after the puppy is in the new owner's possession.

The breeder gives a 1 year guarantee against any congenital defects of the puppy. If this should occur then the puppy will be returned to the breeder and the buyer will receive another puppy of the same breed when one is available or a full refund. If a life-threatening congenital defect is found within that time frame and is verified by a licensed vet, a replacement puppy of equivalent value will be given in case of death. An autopsy or postpartum diagnosis is necessary and medical records will need to be sent or faxed to our veterinarian. They will review the report and have final say about the cause of death.

We reserve the right to not sell a puppy to anyone if for some reason it becomes clear to us it will not be a good match for one of our puppies. If that determination is made, the deposit will be refunded. This guarantee is non-transferable. If a legal action should occur, it will be dealt with in the state of Indiana and Elkhart County. Out-of-state laws are not valid per this guarantee
